| Media Research & Consultancy and Arena Audiovisual have developed the Cinema Observatory, in order to evaluate the trends of the film industry as a whole, using two powerful tools: CINEBASE I and CINEBASE II.
The Observatory provides a ongoing analysis of industry trends in all its aspects.
The combination of CINEBASE I and CINEBASE II allows numerous applications in all areas and stages of the production and expoitation process. Both databases provide complete information of whatever happens to a film in national and international markets. We offer this tool to institutions dedicated to training and analysis, and of course to exhibitors, distributors and production companies.
All the same, the Observatory can give an answer to many questions, but specially to two generic questions that embrace all the Observatory’s philosophy:
How was the commercial life of any film with Spanish participation?
How do films of any origin behave commercially once released in Spain?
CINEBASE I:
CINEBASE I contains information about more than 1100 films, including records of all the films produced in Latin American countries, including Brazil and Portugal, as from 2001. Each record is structured in four sections: a) General Production Details, b) Data of release, box office, video/DVD and broadcasting results, c) International Sales and d) Comments and notes on the film.
CINEBASE II
On the other hand, meeting its own market needs, the Latin American Cinema Observatory has developed another tool: CINEBASE II, a database specialized in film releases. It contains information about more than 1300 feature films, animation and documentary films that have been released commercially in Spanish theatres as from 1st of January 2002 until the present day.
